How to fix philips sonicare model hx6730?

My sonicare started acting up last week. Used it today and it didn't turn on. When I charge it, it vibrates once then vibrates twice, then vibrates once, twice and so on with the same pattern. I opened it, saw that it was a little wet. The handle seal is also warped for some reason. I rinse/clean it after use. Could that have caused the handle/seal to warp therefore the water leaked and shorted the internal battery/chip? Thank you for your help in advanced! Btw, Philips customer service can't do anything for me since I don't have any proof of purchase. It was a gift from my parents a couple of years ago.
