How can I fix my camcorder?

I have a Sony Handycam, Model; HDR-XR155E
It appears to record ok when watching the LCD display,
but when I play back the recording, the picture jumps/ disappears then come back and starts breaking up, it does this continually. The camera is about 3 years old. Can someone please help?
