My charger base for the battery of my B D 4909c has stopped working?

Hi my charger has stopped working ,it was ok yesterday,I have checked the fuse in the plug.The charger gets warm/hot,but neither the red or green light comes on,and its stopped charging the battery,please can you give me some advice,As my wife likes all jobs done yesterday,if you get my drift.I would buy a new one but pennys are a bit in short supply at the mo.Thankyou in advance of any replies .
