When using the on/off switch on a plug socket it makes a fizzing sound for a second. It does not short out and the appliance works ok. Is this caused by loose wires on the socket?
Is there a faint smell of burning fish as well? If so, switch the socket off and have the wiring inspected by a competent person as soon as possible. It sounds like loose terminal screws in the inside of the socket and the work needs to be done urgently.

Very probably yes...
Have it attended to and try not to use it until it's been repaired - the socket.
The fizzing will be the sound sparks make - heat and soot will be generated - things will get worse.
Try to be sure that it's the socket rather than the equipment plug that has the problem else you may try to fix the wrong thing.
