How can I open my Renault Trafic 2003 when the battery is dead. ?

How can open my 2003 Renault Trafic when the battery is dead? I opened it once in the past by connecting jump leads to the rear positive lead on the alternator and earth and my car, however trying this a second time has not worked. Will I now need to break a window?
