How exactly was the handle broken?

I fitted a new interlock to my hoover optima, but still get the flashing door lock light so the next thing is to figure out if my handle is broken however it seems to shut and lock into place ok but when opening it by the handle I don't need to pull the handle so much - more like a little press and it clicks open ( hard to explain lol) many people on here saying they've fixed their handle- I'm just trying to find out if it was a dead cert that the handle was broken or more like how I've explained above?
