My Tricity CSIE508X grill is not working properly?

The old element blew up.

I bought a replacement element from Eletrolux 2800 dual with four connecting spades, connected the same way, two orange on the first two spades (from the left) white on the third spade and blue on the fourth.

The outer part of the element is getting red hot and the inner part is black and just hot. This is the reverse on what is says in the manual. It will not do toast.

had the old element failed?.did you test the continuity with a meter before buying new element?.Is it a dual element on that model and did it have 4 electrical spade connections to it.Did you make note where they came from prior to starting job?
