After spending much time on the internet trying to source the replacement elements I finally tried AGA RANGEmaster direct on 01926 457400. They were able to supply the genuine parts about £3per item cheaper than anyone else I found.
These elements are very easy to replace, there are only 7 screws to remove and refit.
1. Firstly ISOLATE and pull your cooker away from the wall, ensuring not to put any undue tension or stress on the electrical cable, the gas pipe and their connections. You’ll need to get to the back and front of it at the same time so ensure you have enough room to work.
2. Remove and set aside the un-enamelled “heat shield” at the front of the grill secured by the 2 forward facing crosshead screws holding. Not the enamelled panel.
3. At the rear of the cooker. Remove and set aside the “galvanised cover” which is located below the grill vent and is secured by 3 crosshead screws.
4. This exposes the rear element connectors and wiring.
5. Noting the wire colour and location of the connections, carefully disconnect the wires from the grill element “spade” connectors. Also make a note of which way up your grill element has been fitted.
6. At the front of the grill. Using a long reach screwdriver remove the only screw securing the element to the back of the cooker, and pull the old element out through the front of the grill.
7. Fitting the new element is a little tricky and needs hands and the rear of the cooker and inside the grill to feed the connectors through the holes in the rear of the cooker. Then secure in place, ensuring the element is flat and level. Repeat for second element.
8. At the rear of the cooker. Carefully reconnect the wires in the same sequence and configuration as originally fitted.
9. At the front of the cooker. Reinstall the un-enamelled “heat shield” using the two crossheads crews supplied.
10. Carefully push your cooker back into place taking care not to trap or damage electrical cable, the gas pipe and their connections.
11. Switch the cooker on and test the grill.
