Mend Craftsman Lawn Mower Engine

13.5 hp 30" craftsman mower?

I can disconnect the blue wire from it groun pin on the engine and it will run with the switch on or off, as soon as I ground it the engine quits. There is also a yellow wire at the same ground on the engine. Is ti the switch bad or what?
