fuel filter pipes ?

when i replaced my fuel filter the pipes that go into the top of the filter were very tight after pulling out the locking clip it still would not come off after a bit of pulling they came off
but the black plastic sleeve that goes in to the pipe was left on the filter so i changed filter then tried to put sleeves back in the elbow of the pipe but could not push the locking clip thats on the pipe that locks the pipe to the filter cartridge so now do i need to replace the two pipe now thanks its a 52 18 td focus
