I have recently changed the battery in our ADT alarm and I turned the mains off. when I switched it back on, the keypad displays black squares all the way across. I can not enter the code set it or do anything to the alarm. It has a constant green led light which I believe means everything is okay- fuse battery etc. does anyone know what this is an how i can fix it.
Or a loose connection on the A & B lines, it does happen.

did you power up battery first then mains? Try this process again when power is applied see if the keypad says configuring before displaying alarm in progress. If this does not happen and you have not disconnected any wires it sounds like the panel is knackered I'd suggest getting someone (Not ADT but someone reputable) in and dont be suprised if they say you've gotta have a new panel

A line of *********s on the RKP
= No Communication on A B Line,
possibly faulty PCB or lack of resistor.
You need an engineer to check it out
PS, they are not squares, they are stars.
