I have a Philips dtr 1500 freeview ,i have lost itv1 when i reinstal all channels it's still missing , please could you help .

I'm not familiar with that box but generally the answer is yes you do need a remote.
A replacement remote will probably get very close to the cost of a brand new box. (Your box is a really cheap one from ASDA.) So I would simply bin it a get a new box if I was you.
