What should I check for no spark?

I have a B&S 283707 12 HP mower with no spark at the plug. Cranks well but won't start.

Ist, disconnect the 'kill' wire from the engine. If it now starts, the problem is with the wiring in the rest of the mower. If it doesn't, the problem has to be the ignition coil itself. Repair not possible - replace.
