have a briggs stratton 6.5 front wheel drive lawn mower. I have no spark to the spark plug . grounded spark plug to block , no spark . changed spark plugs and still no spark. took cover off and sanded any rust off flywheel . reset coil to match book clearance. still no spark . how do I repair to get spark?
the coil is guaranteed shot. common place for briggs motors. I bought a brand new 6 HP briggs push mower. Ran great for two years and then the third year went to start it, the darn thing didn't start. Had to replace the coil. I have done a million of these already so don't feel bad.

If the engine is old ie pre early 1980s then it may have points and condensor under the flywheel which may need cleaning or replacing. if not you need a new ignition coil
