Mend Indesit IS60V Belt Snapped Replaced

What should I expect after changing a drive belt on an Indesit IS60v?

The belt snapped on my Indesit IS60V tumble dryer, I got a new belt and replaced it, since doing so the drum is making a thumping sound when spinning, the belt seems to be straight and in the orginal place the old one was. It spins in both directions no problem but it very noisy, is this normal and if not, any ideas what it might be?
