My scantronic alarm acted oddly in that alarm would go of for no reason.I changed the back up battery but still the alarm used to go of.The external siren did not work.THe back up battery had been broken so I have changed it with similar battery.The alarm seems to be all right but the external siren does not work when a when alarm goes off.I have done the bell test.Now the siren tested ok.I have tried engineer reset with code given in the manual but still the siren does not go off when alarm goes off. would appreciate any answers.Thanks
Thanks Acorn and Manno I have tried moving into area which is not entry area and that does not make any difference.I have tried to set the bell delay at 0 but there is no difference.When you are in programming mode do the lights on key pad flash as this is not happening.Could the engineer code have been changed and the alarm is not on programming mode when I am entering the codes on keypad'Can anyone help with this.Thanks

... or, on testing you did not take the two ply entry time onto account, wait a little longer during entry or move into an area that is not on the entry route and see what happens.

Go back into engineering and check the bell delay,it's default is set at 0 so it should sound immediately once an alarm condition is triggered.
You may have set the bell delay timer too high by accident when you reprogrammed.
