scantronic 9449 alarm?

The external siren of my Burglar alarm does not work. The battery of the siren has been changed as it was broken.I have changed that and the back-up battery as well.It seems that the alarm needs a complete reset.I have tried the default engineer code to reset the system but this does not work. When you are in programming mode should any lights flash on keypad.I have reset the delay to zero and have also moved to other zone than entry zone when setting the alarm. Can anyone help?

You need to establish your codes first are you in engineer or user everything can be done from engineer or in user you can do a bell test establish if the bells working and make sure you hear the external bell if not your bells the problem then you have to exit programming mode you don't need a system reset when you exit that brings the system automatically back to 'ready to arm'
You could connect a small internal sounder across your bell outputs in the panel this will tell you straight off it's working properly.

You could for handiness connect a small sounder across your bell output in the panel

dont understand e manno,he said you have success fully entered the engineering prog, then he say without the engineer code, you cant reset the system, but,as he said ,if you have set delay time to zero, you must have engineering code :-)

if you have changed the bell delay to zero, you must have the engineering code, all you have to do now is follow the engineering manual,it will tell you how to reset your system,

Unfortunately without knowing the engineering code ,you won't be able to reset the system.I understand your predicament and a stage 1 reset is needed.

Sorry but I can't instruct you on this method ,due to it's sensitivity especially on an open site.I hope you understand that the info can be used by others ,and will put everyone including yourself at risk.

I suggest you get someone in who can change the eng code for one you know.

I have done bell test and the external siren can be heard.all lights were not flashing when I tried to go in programming mode to do the engineer reset. The battery was broken and not split. It seems that I have not been able to go in programming mode due to there being a different engineer code. How can reset system if I don't have a right engineer code as default might have been changed?

Returning the system to factory setting will only create more problems,as it will need reprogramming and may not resolve the issue after a reprogramme.

Yes all LED,s should flash except for service, power and fault when you have entered programming mode. That's your prompt for entering the programming commands.

You have successfully entered engineering because you have changed the bell delay to zero,

I would suggest you test the bells to ensure the outside sounder is at fault and not a programming error, return to user mode for a bells test.

Press 4 then Enter followed by your user code, internals should
sound for 3 SEC's followed by the outside sounder+strobe for 10 SEC,s.Perform this test and see if the outside sounder and strobe run

If the battery/SAB in the sounder has leaked or exploded, then it's highly likely the acid has damaged the sounder's PCB.

Was the battery intact or split when you removed it from the sounder?, it's just that you mentioned that the battery was "broken".
