Is this repairable? Auto selection not showing on dash means not starting?

CAn anyone help with this please?

My megane (2003 big bum) 1.6 auto won't start. The ignition comes on and when you press start nothing happens. I called rac out and the guy said it could be that the rain has got into the gearbox module but was not 100%. Basically the park revers neutral and drive display on the dash was not showing what gear the car was in. The selection still works fine and all gears can be selected. The car drove fine yesterday but today simply won't start.

Rac stated the brake switch was working fine.
No reports shown on diagnostics
