Sharp Microwave oven Model R-330J(S) keypad problem?

Hi Experts

I will explain my problem in details

I have a Sharp Carousel microwave model R-330J(S) and cleaned two small cockroaches out of the front display.

Removed, cover, front display/keypad, disconnected all wiring, removed circuit board from front cover, please see the picture below

I reassembled it but the ribbon (third picture from the top) cable from the keypad has no connector and I assume is placed between the board that it needs to touch and the rubber guard (i.e rubber strip with the carbon looking center line ,first and second pictures from the top) from the display but I can't get it right,,,the problem I didn't take picture before I disassembled it

I tried different scenario but most of all keypad was not working I assume its to do with the way this ribbon connector is sitting, as the keypad was not faulty prior to me pulling it apart.

How can I re-assemble this correctly ? everything else looks fine its just the keypad that isn't working.

Thanks

I just had the same problem. Yes, aligning that little ribbon just right was the key. A little tricky but not impossible.

Hi
Just wondering is the solutions suggested above has worked ? as I have the same issue. Most importantly is where did you place the small (green?)strip that comes from the kepyad that connects to either the circuit board or the rubber strip ?

this is not a Uk model i believe but, as a general point, these rubber strips have conductive channels running through them, they will only work fully when corectly installed as you have discovered. Failing any markings as to the orientation of the strip it is trial and error. Mark the top right hand corner of the flat part with a marker pen, this will keep you up to speed on your trial. First intall the strip, try to get it central, see what the result is, if badly wrong, note the strip position, flip it 180 degrees, try again. if no good flip it end to end and try again, if no good try swinging it horizontaly 180 degrees. one position will give a fair result, this is the one to work on. both connections must be spot on, half a millimeter out is no good. make tiny adjustments you should succeed. finally finger grease on the conductive part will give no go results. microwave-repairs.co.uk for further assistance
