why has the evaporator fan stoped on my hotpoint rf187b fridge freezer?

the fridge freezer fan has stopped working on the evaporator of my Hotpoint rf187b ,i had to manually defrost her as the heater has not been defrosting at all (i have to defrost every 3-4 weeks with a hairdryer )only this time the evaporator fan didn't cut back in .any ideas thanks .
