A steamer needs to be big enough to take the item, But not too big. an inlet from the steam generator, what ever source you use, and an outlet. For the thickness you are using, I would think you would need to steam for several hours, After a few hours, check to see how pliable. Do not forget, it will be hot, not pliable enough, keep steaming. Long slow process.
