if it picks up the cotton below the timing is not far out,suggest you look at tension of top and bobbin case.after threading normally and pulling to side,observe needle must bent slightly before cotton start pulling thru.bobbin case cotton must have little tension but not so little that bobbin roll down under own weight if hang down by cotton
