heater not working on hoover vhv 380?

the heater on our hoover vhv 380 appeared to break,the dryer would turn on and run for a few seconds then stop,with no heat inside drum.The heater appeared scorched so we replaced the heater unit,but still the dryer turns off with no heat in drum after a couple of seconds. Please help
