Mend Sunbeam T-20A Toaster Repair

sunbeam T-20 A?

I have a Sunbeam radiant heat toaster and the toaster comes on with out any bread in the toaster as soon as it cools off it comes on again and if bread is in put in it. The bread burns. What could be wrong? Thanks Cecilia
