heat surge problem to fix it or junk it?

the unit and everthing on it works fine for about 5 0r 10 mintues then it will shut off and beeping noise sounds.I un plug it for about 10 mintues or more and when I plug it up fan comes on and blows cold air and then quits and then I switch everthing back on and push reset button and ever works fine again for about 5 or 10 mintues and then shuts down again and have to keep doing it till I finally give up,any ideals.
