ALBA DV3 FREEVIEW BOX TURNS ITSELF ON AND OFF!?

I was desperate to buy one of them but after all the negative feedbacks, I can't risk it I will rather look for something different and more reliable. Any suggestions folks?

ALBA DV3 Model STB2N Freeview Box:

I repaired one of these that was dead.

I replaced a 2200Uf Capacitor near the Power Supply and it worked ok.

A few weeks later, i am getting the same fault as everyone else, where it turns itself off at times and the remote control appears slow to respond, however i do not think it is the remote control, it is something within the circuitry of the freview box itself.

This time i do not know what it is?

Mine was fine until I received a message over the T.V. asking if I would like to update the software. This was supposed to get rid of Bugs and allow programme information. I downloaded it and now my Alba CV3 has too many problems to list. Don't update!

i have a problem with getting very low signal. For example There is no signal for ITV and Channel 4. Do you know any solution for this problem?

I have had the same problem, turned it on one evening and now it just continuously power cycles, turning itself on and off. Have turned it off at the mains for a while but this didn't resolve the problem. Will definately take it back to the retailer and let you know how i get on.

i have had the same problem was perfect but now turns on and off itself. This is because it get very hot, the hotter it is the more frequent it turns it self on and off. to solve this problem unplug it and plug it in only when u need it to stop it over heating. I have just brought another freeview for 20quid and its even better picture quality

Take it back where you bought it for a refund. Under the various Sale of Goods Acts products should last for a 'reasonable' time. The law doesn't say what a 'resonable' time is but under a year is definitely too short. If goods are under six month old the retailer has to prove that they are not faulty. After that the onus is on the buyer.

Don't take any crap about going to the manufacturer under warranty. Your contract is with the RETAILER and its up to them to help you. And don't take a credit note under a year and you are entitled, in law, to get a refund.

If you go to www.dti.gov.uk you can find all sorts of helpful stuff.
