Richard - where is the cylinder?? I can't work out which parts to take off to find the cylinder? This isnt the drum is it?

Both the "thermostats" on this model are in fact thermal cutouts designed to protect for an overheat scenario neither one is a "one-shot", they are basic bi-metallic thermal cutouts, housed inside a cylinder. If you remove them as described above, you will notice that on the reverse side of the metallic disc is a small hole, if you carefully insert a very small screwdriver, or indeed a cocktail stick and push, it will "pop" and the bi-metallic element will reset, refit the thermal cut-out and all should be fine. If it continues to "trip", this is indicative of a problem and should be investigated, more than likely a blocked lint trap etc. Hope this helps.

Hi again

The problem is more than likely that it has overheated. this happened to mine because the lint trap didn't get emptied - so keep an eye on that in the future.

Fortunately its very easy and quite cheap to fix. There are 2 thermostats that control the temperature, these are located on top of the heater assembly. They are "one shot" stats so they need replacing if the machine has overheated.
Replacements cost £20.66 (inc VAT) Part No: HPT1703200. I would recommend EZEE-FIX who do mail order (01423 797761) they are REALLY good people.

Remove the 2 obvious covers on the back of the machine.
Unscrew the heater assembly from the inside of the larger cover. On top of this are 2 stats witha total of 5 wires. Leave everything in place until you are just about to change them over - so you get the wires right. The stat on the left has a blue spot on it MAKE SURE YOU REPLACE THEM TH RIGHT WAY ie the one the spot and the one without the spot. this is because one is a high temp sensor and the other is for low temp - if you put them in the wrong way round they won't work. Also note - do not touch the centres of the stats - metal side, it looks like a button. if you push it in - it won't work. If this doesn't work then you will have to replace the heating elements too - but more than likely this will fix it - Good Luck
