Mend Indesit W103 Washing Machine Door Lock Mechanism

The handle on the indesit w103 does not lock?

Hello
The door lock mechanism on the w103 indesit refuses to lock, which inturn stops the machine from doing a normal wash cycle. I have tried pushing it close but nothing happens.
any advise please.
