How to open Drawer on goodmans GDVD301RP?

I recently bought a Goodmans GDVD301RP DVD recorder from ebay. I had to also buy a separate remote which works fine. I connected it to my TV and my virgin media box to test it it worked fine. I tuned it into the virgin media box and TV it worked fine. I put in a DVD it worked fine. Now I cannot get the drawer to open. I can hear the motor inside whirring away. I checked all the fittings they seem fine. Even with the cost of remote it is not worth the cost of getting a proffessional in bout £25 call out charge just to start. Just need advice about how to open drawer. Been adviced to try pry open the drawer with a knife but am worried about damaging it
