Is it the detergent or something else?

I have a fisher and paykel dish drawer dishwasher DD605. For the first time, I used Morning Fresh liquid dishwasher detergent instead of Finish powder detergent. The wash arm stopped at 59mins and just sat there whirring. When I finally noticed, about an hour later, I opened it the water was very hot. I turned it off and put the fast cycle on and it seemed to go alright. Is the trouble with the detergent or could something else be happening? I normally put the dishwasher late at night and don't want the house to burn down.
