Mend Singer Foot Problem Model

foot pedal?

i'm writing to you to ask if you could solve this little problem for me. i have a 1967 White Singer Featherweight Model 221 Sewing Machine it's been running fine until today for some reason when i plugged it in it started on it's own without pressing the foot pedal.
