Mend Dry Cleaned Machine

My Defy Laundromaid 1300m will not spin dry. ?

I have cleaned all the filters and I have given the machine a general cleaning. This happened once before and when I cleaned the filters the machine started working. Not this time. Any suggestions? If it is the spin motor where do I find it and how do I confirm that this is so?

My Defy Laundromaid just didnt want to drain water, so i read the troubleshooting in the instructional booklet and understood that i jst needed to clean the filter at the rear bottom. The filter jst unscrews and all you need to do is wash in warm water to get rid of the dirt. put it back and your good to go. However the second time it happened it didnt work by cleaning the filter, then i followed Andre Potgiteter's solution by removing the drain motor and dismantling the filter portion and found a huge clump of dirt that was preventing the motor from turning. Thnaks Andre im sure you saved me a lot of money, in a month that was a financial crisis for me.

So I realized that no one could help me with my Defy. I contacted Defy and they said just to come out and look would cost me R350. I soon realized that I was in for over R1,000. I decided to look myself. Unplug the machine. Take off the back cover. Lean the machine against the wall at the sharpest angle you can as you will be working with screws under the pump. Remove the drain pipe. There are two screws that hold the bottom filter and 3 screws that hold the drain pump in place. Remember where these screws come from and their sizes. Once the pump and filter are loose, turn the pump off the filter. Then take out the two screws that hold the pump housing in place. You will have to hold the opposite end of the fan steady as you slowly wind the fan off. Now the end that you held steady will be totally gunged up with string and fluff if this is your problem. Slowly work off every piece of gunge and ensure everything is clean. Then put everything back together and Viola. If the motor does not show signs of being burnt out then when everything is back together run a small wash and Bob's you uncle.
