Faulty Cycle?

ive had my washing machine for about 2 yrs now and some of the cycles no longer work - i can no longer use the 29 minute wash and then set it to spin ... nothing happens.
Yesterday, i set it to do a 44 minute wash but when i pressed the start button all it did was fill with water & thats it, ive managed to get the door open and the clothes out but the drum still has water in it and i cant get it to drain or do anything, ive tried switching it off in a hope of it resetting but so far nothing ..
