Glow Worm Space Saver 38 fault?

It's a really old one but was fine until this morning when I gave it a clean. Hoover in and got all the muck out (the heat exchanger leaks so limescale builds up on the burner). Put it back together and pilot lights fine, switch on and the burner lights good, followed after 10 secs or so by this big yellow flame that blows out the lot and makes a big ol' bang!
I took the case back off again removed the burner and gave it a good clean out (didn't mess with the injector).
Any ideas to let me take a shower this evening preferably without blowing the kitchen up?
We are getting prices for a new system, but I can't stay smelly for that long!

I have a gas valve, the thermostat thingy, igniter, and wiring box. I have all the knobs as well.

It's probably a bit late now, but your it sounds like your heat exchanger is cracked, when it heats up the crack opens and water sprays all over the burner. Drain your system and put Radweld in your header tank, its lasted me ten years so far (-:

It is uncanny that it was ok before I turned it off though???
I gave it another try this evening and this bright yellow flame licked out as far as the sight glass although it did stay running for that and a further ignition. Too scared to leave it on though.
