Mend Bar Plastic Metal

how can i repair this?

the bar or spokes on umbrella as come out from housing area now there is a plastic cap that goes on the end of bar with a metal pin that goes threw the cap holes and is suppose to fit into the hole but not sure how to get the pin to stay in because its larger then the housing and there is no spring action u know similar to a watch band being put onto a watch
