Mend Vauxhall Code Safe Astra

Got the code from the vauxhall dealer but still in SAFE?

Got my code over the phone from vauxhall after paying
£24, for my vauxhall astra, but still in 'Safe', I phoned them back and they said I have to keep the key in the ignition until the safe times itself out :/, so now am going to have a dead batery :/, any idea how long this takes to time out??? tried the AS and turning on at the same time!, but still says SAFE, any ideas??

Please note that code entry is only possible with the ignition switched on, and when four lines and a number is shown in the seperate display. If the display continually shows "SAFE" and a number less than "10" then the unit may be codelocked and will need to be left switched on up for up to two hours to reset before another code entry attempt is possible. If it does not reset after this time, or the display shows "SAFE" with no number to the left, then you are not following the correct code entry procedure, and your ignition has not been switched on.
Code Entry as Follows:

Switch On Ignition (No Need To Start Engine)
Turn Off Stereo
Press & Hold Preset " AS " and
Switch Radio On - Display Shows
" SAFE " And Then Shows " 10 - - - - "
Press preset " 1 " repeatedly for 1st Digit
Press preset " 2 " repeatedly for 2nd Digit
Press preset " 3 " repeatedly for 3rd Digit
Press preset " 4 " repeatedly for 4th Digit
If the correct code number is now shown
Press & Hold Preset " AS " Until the Unit Beeps

o give you some idea of how long you'll have to wait before you can attempt re-entering the code if you do get it wrong:- (and by wait, that means having to leave the key in the ignition, turned to position one, and the stereo switched on as well)

Attempt 1 - wait 10 secs. (Display shows 10SAFE)
Attempt 2 - wait 10 secs. (Display shows 9SAFE)
Attempt 3 - wait 10 mins. (Display shows 8SAFE)
Attempt 4 - wait 20 mins. (Display shows 7SAFE)
Attempt 5 - wait 40 mins. (Display shows 6SAFE)
Attempt 6 - wait 80 mins. (1 hr 20 mins) (Display shows 5SAFE)
Attempt 7 - wait 160 mins. (2 hrs 40 mins) (Display shows 4SAFE)
Attempt 8 - wait 320 mins. (5 hrs 20 mins) (Display shows 3SAFE)
Attempt 9 - wait 640 mins. (10 hrs 40 mins) (Display shows 2SAFE)
Attempt 10 - Time to re-write the bin - on the eeprom (Display shows 1SAFE)

turn the radio off, hold the AS button turn the radio on and keep holding the AS button you will then be able to enter the code.
