How to release pressure from Eurocombi Ariston boiler?

Just moved into new house. The boiler is a Eurocombi Ariston A/23 MFFI A/27 MFFI.

The pressure had dropped to zero, so we turned the screw thing to let out some air. It rose, but then became too much as we couldn't turn it back in time. It then started juddering and splurting out water into the street. I managed to get the screw vertical again and it stopped, but the pressure is still in the white area, not the blue, and is not firing up.

How do we lower the pressure safely?

Thanks

Hello - I have this model of boiler in a new rental house. The pressure has gone - where is this "screw thing" you speak of to raise the pressure? NB: The boiler on/off switch doesn't work so if I want the boiler on I have to put the plug in the socket. Not sure if this affects my ability to raise pressure. I found what I think is the silver filling loop lower down on the right with a big screw which I turned easily with a knife but no pressure increase. Am fed up. Will find that pipe outside later and see if it's dripping. For now, just want to know how to raise the pressure. Thanks in advance.

hi ian. my boiler was doing exactly the same thing. all it is is the tap on the filling loop is not shut properly. might only need a fraction of a turn to shut, or the valve maybe dodgy and needs a new filling loop fitted. they arnt expensive if needed. my filling loop has a plastic tap at one end and a screw valve at the other, im guessing theres a one way valve in there too.

or you could turn the pressure release valve! its on the bottom right at the back. It has a red plastic knob on it. turn it slighty anti clockwise to let water out. it is spring loaded and will shut off when you let go of knob. much faster and cleaner than using radiator bleed valves.

The pressure on my boiler as creeped up to 4 bars i have open the vet on my radiator the pressure droped down to under 1 bar, but after half an hour it went back upto 4 bar again.

you have over pressurised the boiler, When filling boiler only fill to 1 bar. If you need to take pressure out of the system the best way is to open the vent on a radiator , hold a cloth over the end and let the water dip into a bowl or bucket. DO NOT TAKE THE VENT RIGHT OUT OF THE RADIATOR.

release it out of one of the radiator bleed screws
