escort van 1800 diesel?

hi, can any one help,ive just replaced the head on a ford escort 1800 diesel van r reg,when i turn it over it seems to lock up,could that mean the bottom end is damage please respond asap thanks

is head gasket the correct one [check notches/holes] and did you make sure that the dowels in block were still in position [they ensure gasket is in correct position] if not piston may be contacting gasket as it might be overlapping bore?

Why did you replace the head?
could just be the bottom end is out of timing with the top end.did you lock the crank and cam in the correct place b4 putting timing belt on?
