Mend Miele G 868 Wash Cycle Loud

miele g868?

granted, the machine is 15 years old, but all of a sudden, during the wash cycle it makes this loud whining noise. It doesn't start that way, and might come and go. Any ideas? And if you do, can you be specific about what is what. I'm handy as long as I know where to look.Thanks.
