Mend Mitsubishi Lucida 2.2 Diesel Died Tank

my lucida 2.2 diesel has just died on me?

my lucida 2.2 diesel has just died on me after the water tank exploded, other than the water tank being in two halfs , what are the reason(s) for this happening? i have checked the oil dip stick and cap and there's no frothing on them. What could have caused this to happen and what are the possible consequences of this?

could this cause any other problems that i haven't come across yet and what should be the cost of repairing the problems that have accured?
Would it have caused any damage to the head gasket or anything else?
