my panasonic viera TV - no sound?

TV is connected to digital TV and to Panasonic Viera Blu-ray surround sound system. We can't get any sound from the TV either with or without the surround sound. The Blu-ray player and TV work well and with sound on DVDs. Can anybody help me?
