thank u brian ;) i did what you said turned hot tap on with the system cold & out of the five pipes only 2 get hot the others stay cold ??? we can sometimes get the heating to work when we run it from cold same with the hot water but if we run the heating and some one turns the hot tap on & some times when it reaches the temparture that its set at thats when we get the problem of were the flame goes out then trys to kick back in?? is the divertor valve the 3 way valve if so this is what our plumber/heating guy is coming back to clean tomorrow morning but he said the other day that if that doesnt do it he isnt sure what else he could do???

it's relatively easy to check divertor valve with the system cold turn on hot tap and feel at heating pipes just below boiler if they get hot then the valve is faulty if not then more info is needed i.e. is heating o k if not when does boiler trip out straight away or after a while ? has the gas pressure been checked? when you say it tries to restart do you mean just the burner or the pump and fan etc.
