Mend Kenmore 80 Series Washer

Kemore washer knocking as trying to sprin?

I have a Kenmore 80 Series Wahser. It tries to spin but will not completely. While it is trying to go into a complete spin there is a lous knocking and a burning smell. Can I fix this myself? I am a 64 year old woman?
