Have a Hoover model U4401 fan broke can't get the old one off?

Not familiar with this model (is it UK or USA model?) but think it might be similar to old UK Hoover Senior. If this is the case you will need to remove motor complete. 4 screws hold this in place. With motor out undo fan pulley at bottom by unscrewing in CLOCKWISE direction while holding the fan still. There may be a slot in pulley for screwdriver if not you'll need a pair of pliers. Once pulley is off simply remove fan making sure not to lose washer and spacers. To avoid breaking fans it's best not to suck up any hard objects such as stones.
