Hoover logic 1100 will not spin dry?

My hoover logic washing machine has stopped spin drying amd stops at the setting just before it, leaving the clothes very wet. If I then move the dial to the spin dry setting, it will move there, but won't spin. Also, the water remains cold through the wash. Any suggestions on how to mend it would be most appreciated.
