Thompson DTi6300 Problem?

I have had a Thompson DTi6300 for a couple of years and use it for all my TV viewing, hence I am very familiar with its use.

Upto December 2010 all was reasonably OK (with the exception of minor glitches). The software then was version 5.01.

In December the box updated itself to software version 6.01. Over the next few weeks I noticed that programs would carry on recording after their scheduled end time; this soon starting using up disk space.

After realising that the problem could have coincided with the new software; I reverted the software back to the previous version (5.01) and the problem went away.

Last week software version 6.54 was automatically loaded; again the same problem appeared almost immediately.

Again I have had to revert the software back to 5.01.

Does this problem sound familar to anyone else?

Does anyone know anything about this software? (eg developers, release notes, known faults, etc)

topuptv do not consider that this is a software problem.

RayJ sounds like you are in worse position than me; at least by me reverting to a previous software release (5.01), I have a more stable version of software.

I suspect that if you reverted to the previous software, you would now get version 6.01 (which in my opinion is just as bad; this was released around mid December).

In case you do not know how to revert to the previous software

Menu > Setup > Help
Press the green button, then yellow button, then green button. Follow on screen instructions.

Unfortunately topuptv answer to virtually EVERYTHING is to reboot! If only the software was more robust.

Just hope the software developers are watching (whoever you are)!

As a matter of interest, does your box 'freeze' for a couple of minutes shortly after switching on, such that it ignores all signals from the remote control? Presumably the software is doing some housekeeping procedures or other. I find this extremely frustrating. Surely such events could be performed on switching off?

I also have had my DTi6300 for a couple of years.Have had some problems with it freezing but nothing that couldn't be fixed by a reset.Since about Christmas however, it has started missing recordings and deleting others which it says were removed because of corruption. Also I've noticed that it won't accept series recording settings any more.Software is also 6.54
