TV is about 3 years old and there is no sound. It came on for about 30 seconds and then went off again so I know it isn't a station or remote problem. The picture is fine.

This will probably have something to do with your scart cables, make sure they have not come loose and see if you can push them in a bit further. Failing this you may have to purshase a new cable, these are not expensive, just a couple of pounds.
