Mend Renault Megane Alarm

Renault magane alarm will not set?

I have a Megane cabriolet with a one button key.

When I lock the car the alarm starts to beep with ever shorter time between beeps. I then pressed key again to unlock but the alarm went off after a few minutes.

Can I lock the car without setting the alarm?
