Remove cover that holds pull cord. Carefully wind the center of the back side(against the spring) until it is tight. Use clamps or vice grips to hold it. Thread in the new pull rope, tie a knot at the end and position is hole that serves as a holdler. Holding onto the rope, release the clamp and allow the spring to pull the rope back into the housing. Reinstall cover.
