How to fix a Kenmore Ultra wash Model 665.7696 ?

thie is a sporadic problem that occurs maybe every dozen start ups. Pressing the smart wash button lights it and the heated dry one automatically. We press the latter to save energy and then the Normal wash.smart wash both start blinking together .After a while the normal wash light goes off and the heated dry and smart wash both light and are steady . Then the heated dry eventually goes off but the smart wash starts to blink.Tried holding the Heated dry button for several seconds also cutting the power . Nothing seems to work --except some several hours later (like the next day or longer).We notice that all lights are off and normal service resumes --until next week or so. We make sure the door is closed before starting to press buttons and seem to have longer intervals of normal behaviour. How do I fix this as we are some distance for a tech to visit--- only to find it working well on arrival. ?
